On March 19, 2025, Mr. Salim Fakir, Founder and Executive Director of the African Climate Foundation, visited the Foreign Environmental Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (hereinafter referred to as the Center) to exchange views on China-Africa climate change investment and financing, as well as South-South cooperation on climate change.

During the meeting, Ms. Li Xia, Deputy Director General of the Center, shared updates and future prospects regarding the "Africa Solar Belt" project and the "China-Africa Green Innovation Program" and "China-Africa Green Envoy Program" under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). She emphasized that, leveraging the platform of the China-Africa Environmental Cooperation Center, the Center is actively implementing environmental and climate-related initiatives outlined in the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Beijing Action Plan (2025-2027) and has established an extensive network for China-Africa environmental and climate collaboration. She expressed that both sides could fully utilize their respective strengths to enhance cooperation in areas such as green and low-carbon transition and sustainable investment and financing, jointly promoting the China-Africa Green Development Partnership Initiative.
Mr. Salim Fakir commended the Center's achievements in advancing China-Africa dialogue, capacity building, and joint research in the fields of environment and climate. He expressed strong confidence in future cooperation between the two sides in climate change investment and financing and South-South cooperation on climate change. He also suggested that both parties could further align their collaborative networks to jointly advance cooperation under the China-Africa Climate Investment and Development Platform.
