On March 6, 2025, a delegation led by Ms. Biman, Deputy Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in China, visited the Foreign Environmental Cooperation Center (hereinafter referred to as the "Center") of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.

The two sides exchanged views on topics such as climate change adaptation and South-South cooperation on climate change for children. Mr. Li Yonghong, Director General of the Center, met with the delegation and extended a warm welcome to the UNICEF team. He noted that the two sides have achieved significant results in climate change cooperation in recent years and expressed hope to further diversify the content and forms of collaboration, advancing practical cooperation in areas such as climate change adaptation and South-South cooperation on climate change for children, jointly enhancing the capacity of youth and children in the region and globally to address climate change.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Director General Li Xia. During the discussions, Ms. Li shared updates and future prospects regarding the work on enhancing children's adaptation capabilities to climate change in China and other regions, as well as South-South cooperation on climate change. She highlighted the Center's extensive technical expertise and experience in implementing multilateral environmental agreements, as well as its broad regional and sub-regional cooperation networks. She suggested that both sides could leverage their respective strengths to explore synergies across multiple areas, jointly supporting the vulnerable groups, including children, in global environmental and climate actions.

Ms. Biman acknowledged the positive progress made in the collaboration between UNICEF and the Center, particularly in areas such as building climate innovation networks and supporting youth participation in climate action. She expressed strong confidence in the future outcomes of cooperation between the two sides in children's climate change adaptation and South-South cooperation on climate change. She also emphasized the potential to further strengthen the alignment of cooperation networks, providing diverse and effective South-South solutions for global actions on children's climate change adaptation.
