An Impact Story: Lighting Up Togo · Solar Power Empowering Rural Futures

2026-05-06

In Togo, many rural communities still lack access to stable electricity. Follow our lens into Komsade Village, located a five-hour drive from the capital, Lomé. Here, residents once relied on traditional energy sources, and power shortages heightened the community’s vulnerability to climate change. With the deployment of 3,900 household solar power systems provided by China, homes are gradually being illuminated. Clean energy is reaching every village and household—improving basic living conditions while injecting green power into rural development. From “no access to electricity” to “reliable and sustainable use of electricity,” this is a story of how China–Africa green and low-carbon cooperation is transforming sunlight into hope and a brighter future.
