On April 11, 2023, a delivery ceremony was successfully held in Beijing for household PV systems donated by China to Kiribati, mobile meteorological stations donated to Botswana, and electric buses donated to Costa Rica, under the South-South Cooperation on Climate Change. Mr. Zhao Yingmin, Vice Minister of Ecology and Environment, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. Also present and addressing the ceremony were H.E. David Teaabo, Ambassador of Kiribati to China, H.E. Batlang Serema, Ambassador of Botswana to China, and H.E. Jonathan Guzmán, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of Costa Rica to China.

As the world's largest developing country and a responsible major nation, China has always been an active advocate and practical implementer of South-South cooperation on climate change. Over the years, China has provided support within its capacity to other developing countries in addressing climate change through various means, including establishing low-carbon demonstration zones, implementing material assistance projects, and conducting capacity-building training programs. To date, China has signed 45 climate cooperation documents with 38 developing countries, carried out over 60 TA projects, and held more than 50 training sessions on South-South climate cooperation, which have been widely praised by developing countries.
The project under the South-South cooperation on climate change represents a concrete measure to implement the "10-100-1000" Initiative and the Belt and Road South-South Cooperation Initiative on Climate Change proposed by President Xi Jinping. These goods donated to Kiribati—comprising 5,000 sets of household PV systems and 300 tons of cement for constructing sea walls—will help address issues related to electricity access and seawater erosion for the people of Kiribati. The multi-satellite integrated mobile satellite data reception, processing, and application system (mobile meteorological station) donated to Botswana will support environmental monitoring, agricultural production, and prevention of extreme climate disasters. The six electric buses donated to Costa Rica will contribute to the green and low-carbon transition in the transportation sector. At present, the production of these goods for all three projects has been completed, and they are expected to be delivered in the near future.
Representatives from relevant institutions of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the ceremony.
