On December 5, Minister of Ecology and Environment Huang Runqiu met in Beijing with Mr. Asterio Appi, Minister of Education, Climate Change and Land Management of Nauru. The two sides held in-depth discussions on topics including cooperation in addressing climate change.

Minister Huang outlined the measures China has taken and the progress achieved in responding to climate change. He expressed China’s willingness to further strengthen communication and experience-sharing with Nauru in areas such as climate adaptation and early warning systems. Under the framework of South-South cooperation on climate change, China will provide support within its capacity, including climate response supplies and capacity-building training, to contribute positively to advancing bilateral relations, benefiting the peoples of both countries, jointly addressing global climate challenges, and building a clean and beautiful world.
Mr. Asterio Appi highly commended China’s significant achievements in climate action, shared measures taken by Nauru in climate adaptation, and expressed appreciation for the support and assistance provided by China. He looked forward to enhancing exchanges and collaboration with China to jointly promote sustainable development in both countries and globally.
